Compared To Other Headphones
The Grado SR80e have an above-average and open sound quality but lack many features for everyday, casual use. They’re lightweight and moderately comfortable. The open-back design of the ear cups also improves their overall sound quality. Unfortunately, their build quality doesn’t feel durable, and they fall off your head quite easily since they don’t have the most stable design and have a bulky non-detachable stereo cable. They also have sharp and piercing sound quality that won’t be ideal for all tracks, especially bright and treble-heavy songs. Grado SR60e/SR60
The Grado SR80e/SR80 have no significant differences when compared to the Grado SR60e/SR60. They sound about the same, although the SR80 have slightly better imaging and treble mostly due to better consistency in the treble range. However, like the SR60e, they sound sharp. This won’t be for everyone, especially on already bright tracks. On the other hand, SR60e are a slightly better value for your money since they have the same performance and overall build quality as the SR80e.
Grado SR125e/SR125
The Grado SR80e/SR80 are pretty much identical to the Grado SR125e/SR125. The SR125e have slightly thicker and more durable cables, but have the same design and build quality as the rest of the budget Grado line up. The SR80 are, therefore, a better value for your money since they have the same performance at a cheaper price point. They also do a bit better in the treble range, although both headphones are a bit too sharp and may sound piercing on already bright tracks. Also, the difference in the treble is within the margin of error for our sound test, since its consistency varies from person to person.
Grado SR225e/SR225
The Grado SR225e/SR225 are also almost identical to the budget Grado SR80e/SR80 but have slightly different pads. The different pads emulate an over-ear design, but it’s not very large, which means they still sit on the ears like on-ear headphones. On the upside, the SR80 are a better value for your money since they sound basically identical to the SR225e, except for the slightly better distortion performance of the more premium model. The SR80e are also a bit less cumbersome to carry around since their cable is not as thick and bulky.
Grado The Hemp Headphone
The Grado SR80e/SR80 and the Grado The Hemp Headphone are both on-ear headphones that have slightly different advantages. While they have similar designs, the SR80e/SR80 are more comfortable. For the most part, they’re able to produce more bass, although it’s still somewhat underemphasized. Unlike the Hemp, their treble is also overemphasized, which makes them sound piercing and sharp. However, the Hemp have a better passive soundstage. They also feel better built.
Koss Porta Pro KTC
The Koss Porta Pro KTC are slightly better headphones than the Grado SR80e/SR80. The Grado have a better build quality and a more open sound for critical listening with a larger soundstage than the Koss. The Koss, on the other hand, have a more outdoor-friendly design despite being open thanks to their portable on-ear format and in-line remote if you get the KTC variant. They also deliver more bass than the Grado, which some listeners will prefer, and they are compact enough to carry around on your person without much hassle, unlike the Grado.
Grado SR325i — сборка, звучание
Grado SR325i — флагманская модель серии Prestige. От более младших моделей отличается использование более дорогих материалов при сборке при сохранение все того же лкассического дизайна. Кожзам использующийся на оголовье достаточно высокого уровня и действительно похож на кожу. Чашечки выполнены из алюминия и выглядят сногсшибательно. Хотя и делают эти наушники более увесистыми, что является единственным минусом по сравнению с младшими моделями. Паралон амбюшур полый внутри и более упругий. Шнур подведен к обеим чашкам.
Что касается звучания Grado SR325i прослушивается значительный прогресс. Как говорилось ранее характер младших моделей предопределяет инструментальный стиль музыки для прослшки. Grado SR325i при все тех же фирменных звуковых примочках любой тисль по плечу и даже электроника Отдельно стоит отметить великолепный бархатный бас и детальные верха. Музыка в данных наушниках звучит по новому и кроме внешнего вида — звук приобретает новые качества!
П.C. В данном обзоре упущены модели Grado SR60i и Grado SR225i но я думаю вы вполне сможете составить свое мнение о этих моделей базируясь на обзоре промежуточных.

Grado SR80i — сборка, звучание
Классически дизайн Grado SR80i есть неизменным еще с момента создания компании. Old School — который будет ярко выделять вас на улице среди хайтековых моделей наушников других производителей. Провод подведен к двум чашечкам, что есть вполне нормально, хотя конечно я лично предпочитаю подключение кабеля к одному наушнику. Так просто напросто удобнее, хотя это дело вкуса и совсем не критично. Наушники не смотря на свой странный дизайн и на первый взгляд недорогие компоненты, достаточно хорошо собраны и имеют легкий вес, что очень удобно для долго использования.
О звучание Grado SR80i можно сказать следующее — наушники обладают фирменной широкой и воздушной сценой присущей абслоютно всем моделям Grado. Если сравнивать с более младшей моделью SR60i то у 80i гораздо более читаемый бас. Фирменная теплота звучания, делает эти наушники менее универсальными — наушники хорошо играют иснтрументальную музыку, в то время как «сжатая» музыка — электроника звучит без необходимого эффекта компрессии и панча. Наушники относятся к Hi-Fi, поэтому звук некоторым образом приукрашен на среднеи верхней середине, что дает некий аванс для детальности. Чудес от SR80i ожидать не стоит — недостаточно упругий бас и детализация говорят о этой модели, как хорошие Hi-Fi наушники начального уровня, которые выдают очень хороший звук за свои деньги.

Below-average for mixed usage. The Grado SR80e/SR80 are ideal for neutral sound, but they aren’t really intended for other use cases. They deliver an above-average sound quality that reproduces instruments and vocals decently well but will sound a bit too sharp for some. They’re also decently comfortable but are less stable than most on-ears and even some bulkier over-ear designs. They’re also open-back headphones that won’t be versatile enough for outdoor use by design.

Grado SR125i — сборка, звучание
Все тот же неизменный классический дизайн. Достаточно легкий вес, подлкючение кабеля к двум чашечкам. От более младших 80, Grado SR125i отличает более толстый кабель, а также менее универсальный разьем Jack без переходника. В остальном были повторены все те же материали — кожзам, пластмаса, алюминий. По заявлению производителя испоьзуется катушка UHPLC (Ultra High Pure Long Crystal) а также кабель с обычной медью но с более толстым сечение чем у младших моделей.
Что касается звучания Grado SR125i, можно сказать что классическая музыка и джазз слушается очень хорошо, в то же время фирменный градашный окрас придает электронным трекам свой теплый характер В отличии от SR80i, Grado SR125iзвучат уже более детально, хотя различия по низам незначительны. В целом если вы любитель живой музыки Grado SR125i будет отличным выбором, тем более что эффект широты и объема сцены выходят на новый качетсвенный уровень, а более детальное звучание, позволит вам заметить новые нюансы записи.
Features
The SR80es are much like the SR80is, which we reviewed years ago. And that pair were similar to the ancient SR80s. The world may change, but Grado headphones stay pretty much the same.
These are unusual headphones in that they’re on-ear but have open backs.
They leak sound and provide almost no isolation, so if you want something to wear on the train, look elsewhere. The Audio Technica ATH-M50xs are a solid alternative.
The earpad style is unorthodox too. They are round slabs of foam, less soft and more scratchy than just about any alternative we could mention.

Once you get used to the unusual feel, they’re fine, and they don’t make your ears hot like some leather pads.
We have real affection for the design, though. The Grados look retro, and not in a superficial way designed simply to look good on a shelf.
Chunky plastic earcups inlaid with grilles and the metal prongs that attach cup to headband create the look of radio-operator cans.
Typical of a fairly affordable pair of ‘audiophile’ headphones, not too much of the budget has been syphoned into flashy surface-level flourishes.
The bits that need to be metal are metal, but the rest is plastic. The leather-effect headband is synthetic too.

The SR80es come in a thin cardboard box that may be damaged by the time you open it if you buy online.
But at least there’s foam padding inside to keep the headphones safe, and a 3.5-to-6.3mm adapter. But that’s it.
There’s no carry case, and the cable does not have an in-line remote for phones. To reiterate: unless you live out in the country, these are not really portable headphones in the traditional sense.

У моделей Grado SR125i и Grado SR325i бросается в глаза более толстый кабель чем у Grado SR80i. Также есть разница в выходном разьеме. Grado SR80i более универсальны, поскольку оснащены разьемом mini Jack + переходних на Jack. В то время как более старшие модели, идут с разьемом Jack, наверное в виду того что предпалагаеться использовать их с соответсвующим оборудованим, таким как усилители для наушников AV реисверы усилители и прочие Hi-Fi компоненты имеющие выход на наушники. Однако это не исключает использоваие Grado SR125i иGrado SR325i с плеером, поскольу у всех трех моделей, сопротивление 32 Ом, что вполне под силу любому плееру.

Sound
Among £90-100 headphones, these Grados are a bit of a weird kid, but the sound is fantastic. Their dynamics, detail and clarity are all-but-unmatched at the price.
The open-backed design helps make these headphones sound fast and nimble. Bass is clean and punchy and there’s zero sense of one frequency band bleeding into or encroaching upon another.
As there’s no fat to the sound, nothing to clog up the separation between parts of an arrangement, the SR80es can jump between genres without any obvious flaws highlighted.
And that’s partly because there aren’t any true clunkers to point out. They’re vital and energetic, and get their results without employing a boost in any particular frequency range.
Not everyone is going to fall in love with the Grado SR80es, though.
Their presentation is up-front, music seeming to ‘start’ close to your ears; the open, well-separated sound doesn’t cling to your eardrums in the way lesser up-front headphones might make it.
Despite their old-fashioned look these are anything but pipe-and-slippers’ headphones.
We enjoy the style, but when the upper-mids are also un-smoothed – not quite raw or hard but without quite the level of refinement heard in Grado’s more expensive pairs – some may find them slightly tiring for long periods at higher volumes.

It’s a small trade-off given the SR80es’ strengths, though, made all the more minor when you consider the practical sacrifices involved in owning an open-back pair of headphones.
Those worried about this should also take a look at the Sennheiser HD 598s, which sound larger and smoother, if not as lively.
If you’re wondering how the SR80es stack up next to the SR60es, they’re similar but the SR80es have slightly tighter bass and better-defined treble. Let your budget decide.
